　　My mother is a kind and gentle woman. She is always very gentle. She takes good care of her children and keeps them all at school. I have two brothers and two sisters. So she gets five children in all. She gives us every comfort we need. We all love her very much.

　　My mother has too much to do in bring us up. As our family is not rich enough, my mother always hits to do a lot of work. She gets up very early and sleeps very late every day. She works very hard, yet without complaining.

　　My mother is also a thrifty and industrious woman. She saves every penny that she can to keep everything in order. As she has been busy ever since she was young, she looks older than she really is. Her face is wrinkled, her hair becomes silver white, some of her teeth become movable. But she works as hard as ever.

　　My mother often says to us," work while you work, play while you play. If you did not work, you will become lazy and of no use to the society." What a good piece of advice it is! We must worth it well and always keep it in our minds.

　　Like all mothers, she is responsible and devotes most of her efforts to our family. So sometimes I feel regretful for her to give up her work, but she thinks it is the proper social role for a woman to be a housewife. She is satisfied with the family members` achievements. She insists on keeping her children under her wings. You see how traditional she is.

　　However, since she is intelligent and has received the high education, it is easy for her to accept something new. In recent years, she is interested in the stock. Therefore, she cares about the political and economic situation of the country and the world, and actively collects information of the companies whose stocks she bought. What is more, she is a fan of the Argentine football team. So she was very sad after the defeat of this team in the 14th World Cup Tournament.

　　I love my mother, just because she loves me. Since we share some interests such as playing chess, we get chances to communicate with each other, which makes us close friends.

　　My mother is fifty-five years old, and for the last thirty years she has been the village doctor. She works in a small clinic where she prepares medicine and treats small injuries. Almost all the villagers come to my mother when their babies are due. My mother is very good at predicting the day when the baby will come. Sometimesmy mother does not get sleep if babies come late at night or early in the morning. We always like to see new babies get their first bath because they look so red and small. Occasionally, my mother is so worried about the patient that she forgets to eat. She racks her brains to try different ways to cure diseases such as massage, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese herbs. All the village people trust my mother because she is such a quiet, kind, and experienced friend of theirs.

　　My mother is a good mother of the Chinese type. She treats my grandmother as if she were her own mother, so my grandmother is very fond of her.

　　My mother is an educated woman. When she has spare time, she reads books and newspapers. She knows many stories. After supper, we often sit in our living room, hearing her stories. As she was once a teacher, she can tell stories very interestingly. When we find any difficulty in our lessons, we consult our mother. Her explanation is very helpful, so she is not only our mother but also our teacher. She wants us to study hard, but never allows us to study late into the night. She often warns us not to waste time, so we always prepare our lessons very well and do not cram when an examination approaches.

　　She loves us, but not excessively. She does not allow us to do anything wrong, such as smoking, drinking, or gambling. Of course, she does not do such things herself; she sets us a good example herself.
