Halloween means Hallows" Evening.It is the evening before All Hallows" Day (now called All Saints"Day) ,a Christian holiday,celebrated on the November 1st.
History traces Halloween back to the ancient religion of the Celtics.
The Celts were the ancestors of the present-day Irish,Welsh and Scottish people.In the 5th century BC,in Celtic Ireland,summer officially ended on October 31st.On the November 1st,Celtic peoples celebrated the festival of Samhain,which marked the beginning of winter and the Celtic New Year.Celts thought the division between the natural world and the supernatural world became very thin and all time and space was abruptly suspended on October 31st,and then the spirits of the died would come back and move freely looking for living bodies to possess.

每年的10月31日是西方國家的傳統節日----萬圣節。在萬圣節前夕，我們杭州網的小記者展開了一次“萬圣節英語文化之旅”。
我和媽媽早早地來到了活動集合地點，報到后領了一張活動的介紹。等人差不多齊了后，我們各自得到了一個英文名，然后來到了一個充滿萬圣節氣氛的小屋：神秘的黑色城堡與墳墓；詭異的南瓜燈；墻上貼滿了各種各樣的妖魔鬼怪的圖案······讓人直冒冷汗。
活動開始了，首先是通過一個小短片讓我們知道了萬圣節的由來：萬圣節最早是愛爾蘭人驅趕鬼神的節日，又叫“夏之盡頭”。但信奉神的.教皇不同意了，便把11月1日訂為跪拜鬼神的節日，但10月31日晚要驅趕鬼神的呀，于是正式把“夏之盡頭”改為“Hlloween(萬圣節)”。據說這一天在西方國家，孩子們都會穿上精靈古怪的衣服提著南瓜燈挨家挨戶討糖吃。
既然說到挨家討糖吃，接下來我們就玩了“Trick or treat（不給糖就搗蛋）”的游戲。我提了一盞南瓜燈敲了敲門，笑嘻嘻地說：“Trick or treat”，然后走進門，老師就給我了兩顆糖。耶！太容易了！
最好玩的要數“咬蘋果”了。老師把蘋果懸掛在繩子上讓我們去咬，但只能用嘴不能用手，誰先咬到，誰就是優勝者。輪到我了，我挑了個最中間的蘋果準備下嘴。可是我的嘴剛碰到蘋果，它就“跳”開了，反復嘗試了好幾次，都以失敗告終。我急了，對準蘋果張大嘴露出鋒利的牙齒狠狠地咬了下去。嗚……蘋果“逃”得更快了，還來了個“反彈”，我的鼻子！游戲時間到了，雖然我沒有咬到蘋果，但作為鼓勵老師還是送了我一只蘋果。哈哈！我連忙用雙手接過蘋果咬了下去。這下你“逃”不掉了吧，用手拿著吃就是方便啊！
這次杭州網小記者的“萬圣節英語文化之旅”可真有意思！

早知道英語學校今天有萬圣節活動，我和媽媽商量了好久，決定打扮成了小公主來參加活動。一進瑞思英語的大門，哎呀，變樣了！墻貼上了可怕的蜘蛛網、黑黑的樹枝，桌子上當然還有南瓜燈，這些都是萬圣節的標志。過道里，小朋友們都打扮成了不同樣子，我都認不出來啦！進了我的教室，也都變樣了！教室的門上被紙貼黑了，在黑紙上，還貼著幾只蝙蝠。原來貼的“a、b、c”不見了，變成了南瓜燈。天花板上掛各種各樣的南瓜燈模型。看來，萬圣節活動的準備工作已經好了。
今年的萬圣節活動是一組游戲，就是要到不同的教室去闖關，我們組是第一個闖關的。聽了老師的安排，我心里砰砰直跳，心想：會不會又向去年一樣，教室里藏了一個“鬼”出來嚇唬人。心里正在忐忑不安時，老師宣布了闖關游戲規則。第1個教室是投硬幣！誰投進去了一個硬幣，誰就得一顆糖果。第2個教室是搶椅子；第3個教室是猜猜看，具體是“小組長描繪一個物品，組員來猜是什么”；第4個教室是老師來說單詞，小朋友來找出單詞，然后再把單詞背后的糖果取出來；第5個是做手工。我們整個上午都在瘋玩。
今天的活動真好，既玩好了，還學習了萬圣節知識、學習了和萬圣節有關的英語，我很開心！
