世界上的第一個父親節，1910年誕生在美國，是由住在美國華盛頓州斯波坎的布魯斯多德夫人倡導的，多德夫人的母親在生育第六個孩子時，因難產而死。

Mrs. Dodd immediately wrote a letter to the mayor and the state government to express their ideas, and proposed to her father's birthday, June 5th of each year as the father's day, the mayor and the governor of the state of Washington Spokane said publicly in favor of. The government accepted the proposal at the same time, the change in the third Sunday of June.
