The origin of the Arbor Day
Arbor Day is initiated by the United States of Nebraska. On April 10, 1872 in Nebraska, Morton garden association held a meeting, put forward the idea of a Arbor Day. China's Arbor Day

In December 1981, five sessions of the National People's Congress four conference passed the resolution of the implementation of national compulsory tree campaign, the state council issued the following year national compulsory tree campaign, the specific measures for its implementation. The significance of Arbor Day
Afforestation can provide oxygen for human, purify air, beautify the environment, is conducive to the protection of the ecological environment. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve done something positive to the environment. Feeling guilty-ridden and determined to do something that I know would definitely please my parents and teachers,I decided to plant several trees on the hill in the rural area of the city on tree planting day with a few friends.
Feeling breezy and light-hearted, we came to the foot of the hill and selected a place that looked suitable and settled down. We spent a few hours digging holes and placing the young seedlings. We took numerous pictures of the beautiful place. We also wrote our wishes and buried it deep down the roots of the trees. I felt tired quickly and though I didn‘t realise it, it was time to go. I gazed up at the sky and took in all the wonderful features of Mother Nature. I felt really glad that we made it for this trip and sweared that I would do my part on protecting the environment.

The first Arbor Day took place on April 10, 1872 in Nebraska. It was the brainchild of Julius Sterling Morton (1832-1902), a Nebraska journalist and politician originally from Michigan. Throughout his long and productive career, Morton worked to improve agricultural techniques in his adopted state and throughout the United States when he served as President Grover Cleveland's Secretary of Agriculture. But his most important legacy is Arbor Day.
Morton (photo, right) felt that Nebraska's landscape and economy would benefit from the wide-scale planting of trees. He set an example himself planting orchards, shade trees and wind breaks on his own farm and he urged his neighbours to follow suit. Morton's real opportunity, though, arrived when he became a member of Nebraska's state board of agriculture. He proposed that a special day be set aside dedicated to tree planting and increasing awareness of the importance of trees. Nebraska's first Arbor Day was an amazing success. More than one million trees were planted. A second Arbor Day took place in 1884 and the young state made it an annual legal holiday in 1885, using April 22nd to coincide with Morton's birthday.
In the years following that first Arbor Day, Morton's idea spread beyond Nebraska with Kansas, Tennessee, Minnesota and Ohio all proclaiming their own Arbor Days. Today all 50 states celebrate Arbor Day although the dates may vary in keeping with the local climate. (State Arbor Days) At the federal level, in 1970, President Richard Nixon proclaimed the last Friday in April as National Arbor Day. Arbor Day is also now celebrated in other countries including Australia. Variations are celebrated as 'Greening Week' of Japan, 'The New Year's Days of Trees' in Israel, 'The Tree-loving Week' of Korea, 'The Reforestation Week' of Yugoslavia, 'The Students' Afforestation Day' of Iceland and 'The National Festival of Tree Planting' in India. Julius Sterling Morton would be proud. Sometimes one good idea can make a real difference.
For the homeowner, Arbor Day is an excellent opportunity to take stock of the trees on your property and plan for the future. Inspect your trees. Note any broken branches or evidence of disease or insect infestation. Think about how planting new trees might improve the look of your property or provide wind or heat protection. Take a trip to your local nursery to see what's available and to get new ideas. Walk around your neighbourhood. Are there any public areas where tree planting or tree maintenance might make a real difference to your community? Talk with your neighbours. Find out what their opinions are. 一年一度的植樹節(jié)即將臨近，我們開始紛紛保護樹林和樹木。一大半的人認為只有在植樹節(jié)才要保護樹林和樹木，我的觀點卻恰恰相反，我們不能只在植樹節(jié)保護樹林和樹木，應該無時不刻的保護著樹林和樹木。
幾億年前，地球歸動物所擁有的.時候植物繁茂，到處生機勃勃，充滿了綠色，但是，智商遠遠高出其他動物的人類出現(xiàn)后，植物像被施了魔法一樣的急劇減少。那是因為，人類為了建造房屋，砍伐樹木所造成的。有的是因為商業(yè)需要，大批大批的砍伐樹林留出空地，用來建造大樓。正因為許多人擅自砍伐樹林和樹木，所以大自然被破壞。
砍伐樹木的壞處很多。大家都知道樹木可以循環(huán)二氧化碳，如果大量砍伐樹木，樹木的數(shù)量就會急劇減少，我們呼出的二氧化碳無法得到循環(huán)。茂密的樹木可以阻擋沙塵暴，前兩年北京遭遇沙塵暴，整個城市被沙子所籠罩這也是因為缺少樹木的保護所造成的。
大家都知道中原兩灣城吧!以前，那里破爛不堪，那些平房的瓦是東一個洞，西一個洞，門是一塊木板做的，街道里堆滿了垃圾，臟及了。現(xiàn)在中原兩灣城建起了公寓、大廈，河水清澈見底，河邊楊柳隨著微風輕輕擺動,這就是人們意識到了尊重自然，保護環(huán)境的重要性。
我希望每個人都能保護樹林、保護樹木，讓都市的生活添一分綠色!
